The Užventis watermill and distillery it is everything what remained of The Užventis Manor. The registration documents state that this mill was built in 1870. However, in historical sources it is mentioned that Užventis already has a watermill and brewery on the bank of Venta river in 1759. The last owner of Užventis manor, signatory of the Act of Independence of Lithuania Jonas Smilgevičius, was an intelligent man who is also known as famous economist and great landowner. He built a turbine instead of the water wheel in the mill which produced electric power for the manor and the whole village. This watermill is placed on the beautiful bank of Venta river and surrounded by old park. The spirit of its history is ever present. While looking at the willow branches touching water you can still feel the presence of Lithuania's famous writer, Šatrijos Ragana, who once lived and wrote here. Life in Užventis manor was the inspiration of her most valuable works „Sename Dvare“ and „Viktutė“.
Nowadays, Užventis Watermill is transformed into a hotel where you can not only spend a night but also you get some SPA procedures like Aromatherapy or Sauna. Also, there are a few halls for different events.
